the night is inspired by victorian gothic romance and the ethereal redwoods. i'd suggest something moody and romantic: oxblood, black, charcoal, peacock blue, forest green, fig plum, mushroom brown, or burnt umber. take a look at our moodboard and fabric swatches if you need inspiration.
DETAILS
do have a little fun with it. antique jewelry, gloves, ribbons, lace, boots, unusual textures, and a little drama are all welcome.
FOOTWEAR
a small practical matter. the venue has hills and natural dirt paths, so i'd recommend something comfortable enough to walk in.
PLEASE AVOID
bright or neon colors, please. they have a tendency to attract unsavory spirits.

Waterfall Lodge & Retreat
tucked deep within the ancient redwoods, waterfall lodge has hosted its fair share of beautiful weddings. lyvian & will are looking forward to welcoming you. though i should mention, there have been some rather curious reports coming from the surrounding woods lately. i wouldn't let that put you off.
JOURNEY
Recommended airport: i'd suggest flying into San Jose Mineta International Airport (SJC). it's the most convenient option, about a 35–45 minute drive from the wedding venue.
Other options: San Francisco International Airport (SFO), Oakland (OAK), and Monterey (MRY).
TRANSPORTATION
waterfall lodge is tucked quite far into the redwoods, so a shuttle will be provided to take you to and from the wedding. there's no parking on-site, and rideshares aren't a reliable option this far into the woods. i'll share the transportation details closer to the date. getting you there is my responsibility, after all.
LODGING
i recommend staying in Scotts Valley for the easiest wedding transportation or Santa Cruz for a more coastal weekend stay.

located near santa cruz's main beach, la bahia offers coastal charm, dining, and spa and wellness experiences. it's a lovely option if you're planning to make a full weekend of your visit.
and really, why wouldn't you? there's plenty to explore.

if you'd prefer to stay closer to the redwoods, hilton santa cruz/scotts valley is a comfortable and convenient choice.
a good place to settle in while you're here, particularly if you'd rather keep the journey to the wedding simple.

tucked away in the santa cruz hills, chaminade offers a quieter, more secluded retreat with a touch of luxury.
a lovely choice if you'd prefer to escape the bustle while remaining a short drive from santa cruz.

What time should I arrive?
the ceremony will begin promptly at 4pm. i’d recommend arriving 20-30 minutes early. being late would be rather unfortunate.
Am I allowed a plus-one?
if your formal invitation includes a plus one, you’ll be able to add your guest when you RSVP.
Are children invited?
this particular evening is adults-only. i’m afraid the little ones will have to sit this one out. we do hope you’ll still join us.
Is there parking at the venue?
there will be no parking on site. but don’t worry, a shuttle will take you to and from the venue. more details to come as the date gets closer.
How is the weather in the woods?
october is usually quite pleasant, with daytime temperatures around 65–70°F. it can get rather chilly as the sun goes down, so i’d suggest bringing an extra layer.
When should I RSVP by?
you’ll find the deadline in your formal invitation. don’t worry, i’ll remind you.

Registry
lyvian & will are very grateful to have you celebrating with them. your presence is already a wonderful gift. in keeping with chinese and vietnamese traditions, they won't be having a traditional gift registry.
